INTERAMNIA 704

Interamnia 704

For the first time I´ve caught an asteroid and I want to share it with all of you. It´s name is Interamnia 704, and it was discovered in 1910 by the Italian astronomer Vicenzo Cerulli, who named it with the latin version of the name of the little town where he was born (Teramo).

The size of the asteroid is huge, with a diameter of almost 350 Km (the fifth asteroid in size in our solar system) but due to its dark material is actually difficult to study, and this makes of it one of the most unknown catalogued bodys.

The next step for me is to get the MPC code, so that way I would be able to report to the Minor Planet Center every measurement that I could achieve. This would be a way to help the astronomic community from my amateur position.

May be this next summer hollydays will be the time...
